Australia (again)

G'day mates! Ahaha.. well it's been a while since my last update and I thought that it would only be appropriate to update you on the happenings of Gloria in Australia. (that.. and I have a paper due that I don't want to do so therefore I am procrastinating). I have finished my classes here at the lovely University of New South Wales =( It's been a good time here in the land downunder and alas, it is almost time for my return back to the good ol United States of America... erghh... ok.. well not really, I still have one more month traveling before returning back to the states =D YAY!
So you may be wondering, what has Gloria been up do? Well, they say that a picture is worth a thousand words.. so here are a few pictures so that I don't have to say a thousand words.. muahaha =D Enjoy!

Melbourne and the Great Ocean Road:

Up until going to Australia, I have never heard of the Great Ocean Road.. it is one of the most beautiful places in Australia (in my opinion)! I highly recommend that you guys go whenever you make your way to Australia...

Me being a dork and pointing at the sign... "LOOK GUYS!! THE GREAT OCEAN ROAD!!"... teehee
What's so great about this place?? Well let's see:

Me, on a helicopter!! WOAH!! My first (and probably only) helicopter ride in my life! On my way to the 12 apostles (there are only supposedly 7 though..)

The twelve apostles from a helicopter! ok.. fine, it doesn't look that great.. but trust me when I say that it's sooo awesome.. they have a whole explanation as to how this happened, but I won't bore you with the details.. I will explain it to you someday if you want to know, but not today..

London Bridge... ironically, there used to be a piece that connected these two together.... but it fell down... hmm.... (this was AFTER the song was invented too... )

Ahaha.. these signs were everywhere.. thank you Australia for driving on the wrong side of the road.. =D Ok... maybe we (the americans) drive on the wrong side of the road.. but thank you for the friendly reminder =D

Sisterly :

My sister, Lydia, came to Australia a few weeks ago (YAY!!) It was so much fun vacationing with her and seeing heaps of cool things! One of the coolest things was going scubaing (I am such an advocate for getting scuba certified now... i'm an addict)!
We went on a 4 day liveaboard trip and did 15 dives in 4 days.. that is hardcore right? It was so expensive but worth every minute!

Our first dive was at 8... breakfast was at 7... that meant that I was able to see the sunrise:

As some of you know, I'm obsessed with sunrises/sunsets... meaning I take a bajillion pictures of them.. but I will spare you and only show you one of the many I took...

The water and the reef:

So blue... =D The brown part is the reef! That's where Nemo lives!!!

Where my sister and I would gear up to wear these 50 pound things on our back... don't worry, they're weightless underwater =D

Some of the bajillion fishes we saw... the Great Barrier Reef is awesome guys!

The whole time we were underwater, I kept on singing "Under the Sea"! Teehee.. soo gorgeous!

Nemo's cousins... =D So cute!! I want my own anenome! It looks like so much fun.. the purple coral just goes back and forth and the fish play in it...sigh
(these pictures were taken by this guy in our scuba group... pretty cool right?? Yeahh..the pictures I took with my disposible camera were just depressing...)

After that awesome trip, we went to some other cool things such as a 5 mile long beach!

While on another beach, we also discovered a lot of these:

Supposedly, a crab did this to dig himself into the ground... i dunno if that's true though... cuz that's one creative crab....My sister and I concluded that this is not so that they can go underground... but it's the point of their existence and so they spend their whole day making these little balls...

A workaholic crab???
Seriously though, if you know what this is, can you please enlighten me???

We also got to meet some cool wallabies & kangaroos...

Look, he's shaking my hand =D Ok.. fine... I have food in my hand... but isn't it so cute????

We also got to go sandboarding.. which was so much fun once it started working... it's pretty much snowboarding with no control...

My sister and I in front of the large sand dunes on Moreton Island =D We went tobagoning (I don't know if that's how it spelled...) which is basically sledding on snow.. except on sand.. I felt like I was at Danforth... ahahSo much fun and so fast.. just be careful to close your eyes/mouth or else there will be sand in them... yuck..

Well, that's a few of the awesome things that I got to do while here in Australia.. I have a lot more pictures, but yeah..
Anyways, I will be back July 8th so set your calendars!!!
Hope you all are enjoying your summer (it's winter in Australia now... sigh =( ) Hope to see you all soon =D

Goldfish

As some of you may or may not know, my favorite snack of all time (after fruits of course) are Goldfish crackers. When I'm in school, I always have goldfish in my room. Sigh... sadly, they don't sell goldfish in Australia. How whack is that? Oh how I wish you were right here sitting on my desk right now so I could eat your happy little smiling face!

Australia!

I can't believe that time flies so quickly in Australia! Dang... It's been almost a month since I've last updated. It's been such a great time here and if I were to upload all the pictures I took, it would take a bajillion years... so here are some highlights!

Highlight # 1: Getting to see my parents =D They came all the way to Sydney to see the "Chinese Garden"... sigh... teehee!

Highlight # 2: Going to Perth (the west coast of Australia). It's soooo gorgeous! Obviously, I had to go to the beach there...

Perth's city skyline... it's so tiny!

Highlight # 3: Getting to see some Aussie animals and getting beat up by a kanga... sigh... only I would get the honor of getting scratched by one of those cuties..

doesn't it look like this kangaroo is kissing me??? Teehee.. aww!

Dolphins!

Highlight # 4: Seeing a gorgeous rainbow from my apartment! It went from one side of the beach to the other side! Sigh =D

Highlight # 5: Spring Break 2006! ... or as the Aussies call it... holiday 2006... it's not even spring break... it's fall break for them...darn it! So confusing!

A plane view of Queensland, one of the states in Australia... sadly, a lot of the vegetation has been ruined because of those darn cyclones.... sigh.

Baggage claim:

It was so funny... they just put all your luggage in these carts and it's like grab bag... just grab your luggage and hope for the best! Teehee =D

The Whitsundays! We got to enjoy some relaxing time on a yacht... ooh the boat... ergh, I got seasick for the first time in my life.. but at least I got to see some gorgeous islands. The Whitsundays have over 70 islands!!!

Sunset!

Proof that I was really at the Whitsundays.... and not just some random island... =D

Another island...

Jumping from the boat in my lovely wetsuit...

I felt like I was Tarzan on water...

The fish that welcomed me in.. look at how ginormous they are! They were seriously the size of your face times 3!

But perhaps the greatest highlight of it all was the fact that I got scuba certified and got to scuba in the Great Barrier Reef! Yes, Gloria has finally found Nemo! And his cousin, Bemo.. ok.. i dunno if that's what he's really called, but it's a black and white clownfish instead of a orange and white clownfish. I saw Crush, the seaturtle! And some disgusting looking fish called Elvis! Granted, it rained everyday I was in Cairns and I definitely didn't get to see the Great Barrier Reef at it's fullest potential, but no picture that I took could ever do such a magnificient sight justice.. so all i can say is that you have to go yourself and check it out!

This is a picture of my sucba buddy and me right before going in! Note the looming clouds... sigh!

So there you have it.. a few of the things that I've done while in Australia! I know that everyone in the states is almost done with their classes.. while I sit here still taking my midterms.. gah... so good luck to all you peeps!

Cheers!

Happy 21st Berfday Tsu Xin Yi!

This entry is dedicated to the one and only Tsu Xin aka Sue Jean Yi, my friend from the motherland =D Some of you are probably wondering.. who is this person that I am referring to??? Well... let's delve into that question a little deeper shall we?

Tsu Xin:

A very interesting character to say the least...

She has deep infactuations with many different types of animals such as this:

(that's a muskrat in case you couldn't tell)

She has a secret interest in older men!

ok.. fine. that was me.. but still.. look how happy she is to take a picture with him!

She sure loves her food...

Yet she knows how to care about other people...

She loves to sleep..

(sorrie sue... i couldn't find a picture of you sleeping, but I know you love joeys.. so here is a joey sleeping...)

However, when she isn't hibernating, she knows how to have fun!

Most importantly, Tsu Xin is one of the most loving women you'll ever meet! She has a heart the size of Africa =D and is always willing to help you when you need it. I am so blessed to have such an awesome sister! I wish I could be there to help you celebrate your 21st but even though I can't, just know that I love you and wish you a very happy happy birthday!

Happy Birthday Sueeeeeee!!!!!!!
